Employment Cost Index (ECI)

A quarterly BLS measure of what US employers pay for wages, salaries and benefits on a fixed mix of jobs, so shifts in who is employed do not distort it. Total compensation rose 0.8% in the third quarter of 2026 and 3.4% over twelve months.
