Index Futures

Exchange-traded contracts on the value of a stock index, such as the E-mini S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures on the CME, which trade almost around the clock. Their overnight price, quoted against the previous settlement, is the market's forecast of the next open, not of the close.
