PCE Price Index

The personal consumption expenditures price index, published monthly by the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the inflation gauge behind the Fed's 2% target. It covers spending by and on behalf of households, weights shelter far less than CPI and adjusts for substitution; in August 2026 core PCE rose 3.0% a year while core CPI rose 2.4%.
