PMI (Purchasing Managers' Index)

A monthly survey-based diffusion index of business conditions: the share of companies reporting an increase plus half the share reporting no change. Above 50 signals expansion, below 50 contraction. S&P Global publishes a flash estimate around the third week of the month; its US flash manufacturing PMI reached 56.0 in October 2026, a 53-month high.
