Celestia Fell 18% From Its Four-Month High While Travala's AVA Jumped 38% on a Saturday

Celestia (TIA) reached $0.769 at 05:00 UTC on October 17 and was at $0.632 twenty-four hours later, down 15.7% on the day and 17.8% from the high. Filecoin lost 11.6% after its own spike. On the other side, AVA rose 38.5%, Gitcoin 26.8% and The Sandbox 16.9% while bitcoin barely moved.

Saturday in crypto was a day of reversals for last week's leaders and of fresh spikes in tokens nobody had been watching. Celestia, which had risen 16.5% on Friday to its highest level since June, kept going in the Asian morning and printed $0.769 in the 05:00 UTC hour. By 10:00 UTC it was falling: that hour went from $0.714 to $0.669 on $2.4 million of volume, and the slide continued through the US afternoon. At 05:00 UTC on Sunday, TIA was $0.632, down 15.7% over 24 hours and 17.8% from the high, with the whole of Friday's gain gone.

Filecoin followed the same script a few hours earlier. FIL rose from $1.175 to a high of $1.2236 in two 15-minute candles at 04:30 and 04:45 UTC on Saturday, then gave it back in eighteen hours of steady selling to a low of $1.0369 at 21:30 UTC, 15.3% below the morning high. The 24-hour change at Sunday 05:00 UTC was −11.6%. Starknet, which had already fallen 29% from its unlock-day spike, lost another 11.7% to $0.0633. EigenLayer fell 11.4%, ZKsync 9.5%, Basic Attention Token 9.2% and Optimism 8.6% to $0.127.

The gainers were smaller and less familiar. AVA, the token of the travel-booking platform Travala, rose 38.5% to $0.4011 on $14 million of 24-hour volume, against $1 million to $3 million on a normal day; the move started in the 15:00 UTC hour on Saturday and ran to a high of $0.4227 at 21:00 UTC before settling. Gitcoin (GTC) gained 26.8% to $0.278 in two bursts, one at 05:00 UTC on Saturday and one at 04:00 UTC on Sunday. Epic Chain rose 19.2%, The Sandbox 16.9% to $0.0652 on $23 million of volume, and Caldera's ERA, a day after its own token unlock, 14.9%.

None of this reached the majors. Bitcoin was $81,800 at 05:00 UTC on Sunday, up 0.2% over 24 hours; ether was $2,416, down 0.5%, after a Saturday low of $2,357. Solana lost 1.1% to $103.84, XRP 1.1% to $1.296, Cardano 2.1% and Dogecoin 1.5%. The pattern of the weekend is the one that has repeated all month: the tokens that rallied hardest into Friday are the ones being sold on Saturday, and the new spikes are in tokens with thin order books where $2 million in an hour is enough to move the price 20%.

For anyone trading these, the Celestia chart is the more useful lesson than the AVA one. A token up 60% in nine sessions, at a four-month high, on a Saturday morning with low liquidity, is a position to be reducing rather than adding to; the first full hour of selling, from $0.714 to $0.669 on more than twice the volume of the hours around it, was the signal that the buyers from Friday were no longer there. Whether AVA holds Sunday's level will be known by the time European traders arrive on Monday.
