LayerZero's 17% Rally Into Its Own Token Unlock (October 2026)
Four days before about 25.7 million ZRO — roughly 6.4% of supply — were due to unlock, LayerZero rose 10% on October 15, 2026 and kept going overnight. Replay the two days hour by hour.
LayerZero (ZRO), the token of a protocol that passes messages between blockchains, had a large unlock scheduled for October 20, 2026: about 25.7 million tokens, roughly 6.4% of circulating supply and worth about $56.6 million, for core contributors and strategic partners, according to Tokenomist.
On October 15 it spent the morning near $1.82 on Binance. In the 14:00 UTC hour it jumped to $1.978 on $2.2 million of volume, and in the 15:00 hour to $2.127 on $3.5 million. It held the gains through the US session and closed the day at $2.086, up 10.25%.
The second leg came just after midnight UTC: the first hour of October 16 took the price to $2.198 on $2.2 million, and by 06:00 UTC it had reached $2.282. At midday it traded at about $2.224, a two-day gain of about 17.5% and the highest since October 6.
The replay is a useful counterexample to the idea that tokens always weaken before an unlock. The rally came on a day the whole altcoin market rose, on volume close to ZRO's 20-day average — the unlock was known to everyone, and on these two days it did not decide the price.
