Starknet's Unlock-Day Spike and the 29% Slide That Followed (October 2026)

On October 15, 2026, the day 127 million STRK tokens unlocked, Starknet jumped 30% in two hours to $0.0987 and then fell for a day and a half, to $0.0697 by Saturday morning. Replay the full round trip in hourly candles.

Starknet (STRK) had a scheduled unlock on October 15, 2026: about 127 million tokens, 66.61 million for early contributors and 60.39 million for investors, roughly 3.37% of the circulating supply according to Tokenomist. The token had fallen through the previous days, from $0.0858 at the start of October 14 to a low of $0.0718 in the 07:00 UTC hour on the 15th.

The first spike came in the European morning: the 09:00 UTC hour rose from $0.0807 to $0.0874 on $6 million of volume and the 10:00 hour touched $0.0898 before collapsing back to $0.0771 within the same hour on $8.4 million. The second and larger move came in the US session. From $0.0756 at the bottom of the 14:00 hour, the price reached $0.0971 in the 15:00 hour and $0.0987 in the 16:00 hour, on $7.9 million and $8.9 million of hourly volume, against about $1 million in a typical hour.

From there it was one direction. STRK closed October 15 at $0.0867, slipped through the Asian night and fell steadily through October 16 to close at $0.0741, down 14.5% on the day. The 03:00 UTC hour on Saturday, October 17 printed the low of $0.0697, 29.4% below Thursday's high and below the level where the unlock-day rally had started.

The replay is a clean example of event-driven volume: a price set on $9 million an hour has to be defended on $1 million an hour afterwards, and on these two days it was not. LayerZero and Arbitrum, which rallied into their own unlocks the same week, also faded within a day of their peaks.
