STEEM's Sunday-Midnight Spike: +39% in 45 Minutes (October 2026)

STEEM jumped 38.7% in the first 45 minutes of Sunday, October 25, 2026, from $0.04987 to $0.06919, then lost a quarter of its value in the next quarter-hour. By the afternoon it was back below Saturday's close, and a smaller repeat at Monday midnight ended at a new low. Replay a spike on 150 times normal volume that changed nothing.

STEEM is the native token of the Steem blockchain, a social-publishing network launched in 2016. In the weeks before this replay it had drifted lower, from a high of $0.07199 on September 26 to a close of $0.04987 on Saturday, October 24, down 3.78% that day, on daily volumes of roughly $50,000 to $220,000 from October 16 onward. In the four hours before midnight UTC on Saturday, the pair traded about $19,000 in total.

The first quarter-hour of Sunday rose 1.73% on $130,000, already several times the evening's volume. The next one did the work: the 00:15 candle rose 16.97% to $0.05936 on $860,000 and 22,677 trades. After a 3.95% pause in the 00:30 candle, which touched $0.0625, the 00:45 candle rose 15.59% to $0.06593 and printed the high of $0.06919 on $1.04 million and 39,319 trades, 38.7% above Saturday's close and the highest price since September 27. In the 75 minutes from midnight STEEM traded about $3.0 million, around 150 times the four hours before. The same night, Threshold's T token rose 43.53% in the 00:00 quarter-hour alone, a move covered in its own replay. No announcement explaining STEEM's move was reported, and this replay does not speculate.

The reversal took a single candle. At 01:00 UTC STEEM fell 18.43% to $0.05379, touching $0.05206, 24.8% below the high reached minutes earlier. What followed was a slow leak rather than a crash: $0.05094 at the close of the 05:00 hour, a bounce to $0.05649 in the 10:00 hour that closed 3.43% lower, and a low of $0.04804 in the 14:00 hour, below the price at which Saturday ended. The daily candle records a 2.53% gain to $0.05111 on $6.72 million, about 30 times Saturday's volume, and a long upper wick that holds the whole story.

Then, at the next midnight, the pattern tried to repeat. The 00:00 UTC candle on Monday, October 26 reached $0.0563, 10.2% above its open, and closed at $0.05244 on $450,000; the following quarter-hour fell 5.88% to $0.04932, and by the 03:00 hour STEEM had traded at $0.04698, below where Sunday's spike began. The second attempt gained about a quarter as much as the first and was sold within fifteen minutes. Two lessons in this chart: a burst of 150 times normal volume in a thin market can move the price by a third without changing where it settles, and when a spike repeats at the same hour the next day, a smaller and quicker failure is the sign that fewer buyers are left to chase it.
