Alphabet's After-Hours Drop: −8% in 15 Minutes (October 2026)
Binance's tokenised Alphabet fell 8.45% in the first quarter-hour after the company's third-quarter report on October 28, 2026, from $325.82 to $298.28, and touched $287.85 by 21:30 UTC. Negative free cash flow outweighed cloud revenue that doubled. Replay the evening the AI trade was repriced.
For eight hours GOOGLB, the Binance token that tracks Alphabet's Class A shares, barely moved. From the European afternoon of Wednesday, October 28, it traded between $322.83 and $326.71, through the Federal Reserve's 18:00 UTC decision to hold rates, when the 18:45 quarter-hour traded $478,000 in 11,057 trades without moving more than 0.3%. The regular US session ended with the token at $325.76 in the 19:45 candle; Alphabet's shares closed at $324.89.
The report landed at 20:00 UTC and the token reacted in one candle. The 20:00 quarter-hour opened at $325.82, briefly reached $327.65, then fell to $298.00 and closed at $298.28, down 8.45% on $3.41 million and 16,739 trades, more than five times the busiest quarter-hour of the afternoon. Revenue had risen 25% to $127.58 billion and Google Cloud revenue 103% to $30.71 billion, but capital spending of $51.36 billion left free cash flow at minus $9.07 billion, Search revenue growth slowed to 12% from 17%, and diluted earnings of $2.12 a share were far below forecasts after an $8.66 billion loss on equity securities.
The selling continued as the earnings call began. The 20:30 candle fell 1.05% to $294.23 on $1.97 million, a 1.11% bounce at 20:45 to $297.58 found no follow-through, and the 21:00 quarter-hour dropped 2.16% to $291.24. The low of the replay, $287.85, came in the 21:30 candle, 11.6% below the regular-session close, during a call in which the chief financial officer said capital spending would rise significantly in 2027 without giving a figure. Trade counts stayed high, 11,292 and 12,570 in the 21:30 and 21:45 quarter-hours, even as the price stopped falling. StockTitan reported the Class A shares at $294.20 at 4:41 p.m. in New York, 9.4% below the close.
The night that followed was a slow recovery that never threatened the gap. The token climbed back to $296.46 in the 00:15 UTC candle on Thursday, slipped to $292.00 in the 02:00 quarter-hour, its busiest overnight with 15,216 trades, and ended the replay at $294.15, 9.7% below the afternoon. Two features stand out. Almost all of the repricing happened in the first fifteen minutes, before any analyst could have read past the headline numbers; and the token found its floor during the call, not after it, which suggests the comments on 2027 spending were already in the price by the time they were made. Binance volume in GOOGLB over the UTC day reached $25.6 million, three times the previous day.
