Amazon's After-Hours Wick: $244 to $214 (October 2026)
Binance's tokenised Amazon fell to $214.31 within fifteen minutes of the company's results on October 29, 2026, 12.3% below its pre-report price, then recovered to about $228. AWS grew 39% but spending and an earnings miss weighed. Replay a long-wick reaction and a quiet night.
Amazon's day started under someone else's cloud. AMZNB, the Binance token that tracks the shares, was near $250 on the morning of Thursday, October 29, and fell to $241.68 in the opening quarter-hour of the US session, 13:30 UTC, as Alphabet opened sharply lower on its way to a record one-day fall. The token spent the rest of the session between $244.41 and $249.34 and closed the 19:45 quarter-hour at $244.23 on $188,600, its busiest of the day so far. Amazon's shares closed at $243.79, down 4.25%.
The 20:00 UTC quarter-hour held the whole reaction in one candle. It opened at $244.53, briefly rose to $245.18, then plunged to $214.31, 12.3% below the pre-report level, and closed at $227.99, down 6.76% on $662,000 and 8,633 trades, more than three times the volume of the previous quarter-hour. The figures behind it: AWS revenue up 39% to $46.0 billion, its fastest growth in nearly five years, against earnings of $1.89 a share, below the $1.96 expected, quarterly cash capital spending of $75.9 billion and a promise to spend "meaningfully more" in 2027.
The long lower wick was the important detail. Within half an hour the token had recovered more than half of the low: the 20:30 candle rose 2.68% to $232.83, with a high of $234.96, on $215,400, as the earnings call put weight on the $578 billion AWS backlog and Andy Jassy's forecast that AWS could grow more than 40% in 2027 and 2028. The rebound did not extend. The 20:45 candle fell back 2.07% to $228.03, and by 22:45 UTC the token was at $226.74.
The Asian session was flat and modest in volume. Between 00:45 and 02:45 UTC on Friday the token traded in a range of barely a dollar, from $224.22 to $225.40, and it ended the replay at $227.57, 6.8% below Thursday afternoon, after $2.7 million had traded in the window. Investing.com quoted the shares at $228.90 after hours. A wick that deep, recovered that quickly, often marks thin liquidity in the first minutes after a release rather than a considered price; the level where the token settled, not the low, is what the next regular session had to work from.
