PAX Gold dropped from about $4,050 to $4,018 in the minutes after the October 2026 jobs report, then spent the afternoon recovering to about $4,058. Replay gold's reaction to a hot data print in 15-minute steps.

PAX Gold, a token backed by one troy ounce of gold, began Friday, November 6, at $4,082 and drifted lower through the Asian and European sessions, to about $4,050 by 13:15 UTC. Gold futures had closed Thursday at $4,113.50.

The October jobs report at 13:30 UTC showed 165,000 new jobs and a fall in unemployment to 4.1%. A stronger economy means a likelier Fed hike, and gold pays no interest, so it fell: the release candle dropped from $4,049.77 to $4,018.00 on $0.80 million of volume, roughly five times the candles before it, and closed at $4,038.49.

The selling continued more slowly for 45 minutes, to a close of $4,022.99 at 14:15 UTC. Then the University of Michigan survey at 15:00 UTC showed sentiment rising to 51.0 and one-year inflation expectations falling to 4.3% from 4.7%, and the token recovered steadily to $4,058 by 16:45 UTC.

It ended the day at $4,061.77, about 0.5% lower, while gold futures settled at $4,074.90, down 0.94%. Replay it to see the typical pattern for gold on strong US data: a fast drop on the release, then a slower recovery as the rest of the day's news comes in.
