The 3x Chip ETF Lost 38% in One Session (November 2026)
Tokenised SOXL, the triple-leveraged semiconductor fund, fell from $66.74 to $41.07 between the US closes of November 4 and 5, 2026, about 38.5%. Replay a leveraged ETF on a 12% sector crash in 15-minute steps.
SOXL is designed to return three times the daily move of a semiconductor index. Its tokenised version on Binance closed Wednesday's US session at $66.74, slipped to about $61 overnight and was at $58.50 by 14:00 UTC on Thursday, November 5, already down more than 12% before New York opened.
The first quarter-hour of regular trading, the 14:30 UTC candle, fell from $57.02 to $54.23 on $3.76 million of volume. Every one of the next five candles closed lower: $51.65, $49.92, $48.26, $46.81 and then $44.01, with a low of $42.11 at 15:45 UTC. In 75 minutes the fund had lost about 26% from its opening price.
The 16:00 UTC candle was the busiest of the day, $4.42 million across 20,098 trades, and it bounced from $42.44 to $47.00; the next one reached $49.63. The rebound faded through the afternoon and the fund closed the US session at $41.07, down about 38.5% on the day, then fell to $38.81 overnight at 23:15 UTC before recovering to about $44 early on Friday.
The move is roughly three times the 12% fall in the iShares Semiconductor ETF, exactly what the product promises for a single day. It also shows the asymmetry of leverage: to get back to $66.74 from $41.07, the fund needs a gain of about 63%. Replay the session to see how fast a daily 3x reset turns a bad day for an index into a loss of more than a third.
