Tokenised SOXL Fell 10% Overnight After Lam Research Beat and Guided Higher: From $104.43 at the US Close to $94.00 by the Asian Morning (October 2026)
SOXLB, the tokenised version of the three-times leveraged semiconductor ETF that trades around the clock on Binance, printed $104.43 in the 20:00 UTC candle on October 21, 2026, as the US session closed with SOXL up 5.83%. Lam Research reported minutes later: a record $8.22 billion quarter and December guidance above consensus. The 20:00 candle closed at $101.07, down 2.1%, the 22:00 candle fell through $100.39, the 01:30 candle on October 22 broke $97.51, the 02:15 candle traded $0.64 million, the heaviest of the night, to $96.03, and the 04:30 candle printed the low of $94.00, 10.0% below the close. Replay a beat-and-raise being sold for eight hours straight while the US market was shut.
SOXL is the ETF that returns three times the daily move of the ICE Semiconductor Index, and SOXLB is its Binance token, which tracks it one-for-one and trades every hour of the week. On October 21, 2026 the chip trade had its best day in two weeks: Super Micro's raised outlook lifted Dell and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 1.97%, SOXL gained 5.83%, and the ETF had taken in $7 billion in the week to October 20 according to CappNotes. The token had traded between $99.37 and $104.60 during the New York session, with the 13:00 UTC opening candle dipping to $99.45 and the 15:00 hour rebuilding to $104, and it was at $103.36 in the 19:45 candle going into the close.
The report arrived in the 20:00 UTC quarter-hour. Lam Research's fiscal first-quarter revenue of $8.22 billion was a record, up 54% from a year earlier, gross margin was 52.4% and operating margin above 40% for the first time, and the December-quarter guide of $8.6 billion plus or minus $400 million was above the $8.1 billion consensus. The candle opened at $103.29, touched $104.43, fell to $100.97 and closed at $101.07, down 2.1% on $0.30 million and 1,148 trades, as Lam's own shares fell 6% in the after-hours market on the width of the range, the supply constraints management mentioned and an 80% one-year run. The 20:15 candle recovered to $102.23 and the 20:45 candle to $103.22, which was the only real bounce: the 21:00 candle traded $0.44 million and 1,743 trades, the busiest of the evening, and closed lower at $102.13.
From there the selling was orderly and did not stop. The 22:00 candle fell 1.3% to $100.39 on $0.34 million, the 22:15 candle broke $100 to $99.35, and the token spent the next ninety minutes between $99 and $100; the 23:45 candle closed at $98.58. A spike to $100.52 in the 00:00 candle on October 22 was sold within fifteen minutes. The 01:30 candle broke $97.51, the 02:00 candle $97.07, and the 02:15 candle, from $97.09 to $96.03 on $0.64 million and 2,431 trades, was the heaviest quarter-hour of the night, as Seoul opened and SK Hynix headed for a 6% loss. The 03:45 candle printed $94.68, the 04:30 candle the low of $94.00 on $0.43 million, and the 04:45 candle bounced to $95.11; the token was at $94.47 at 05:15 UTC, 10.0% below the 20:00 high and 8.6% below the US close.
What to study is the absence of a news candle. The largest fifteen-minute move of the whole event was 2.1%, and the heaviest candle traded $0.64 million, a quarter of what the 07:00 UTC candle had done the previous morning; the 10% decline was built from forty candles of between 0.2% and 1.3%, one after another, with every bounce sold inside thirty minutes. That is what a leveraged chip ETF looks like when the holders who bought a beat decide, one at a time, that a beat was not enough, and it is the opposite shape from the SOXLB replay of October 19, when the token rose 19% from a Sunday low in a few vertical candles. Compare the two and the lesson is the one Lam's own stock taught: the number was fine, the price was the problem.
