Moderna, Atlassian, Vistra and Bitcoin After the Jobs Beat

Four theoretical setups for the week of November 9: Moderna after a surprise profit, Atlassian after a 16% fall, Vistra after its 2027 targets and bitcoin stuck near $75,900 before CPI.

MRNA · Moderna, Inc. — Bullish, Swing (1-4 weeks). Moderna reported a $162 million third-quarter profit against an expected loss, revenue up 29% to $1.31 billion and raised its 2026 growth forecast to 15% to 25%, and the shares rose 5.3% to $254.19, near their 52-week high, on a day when most growth stocks were still recovering. Year-end cash guidance of $8.1 billion to $8.3 billion removes the near-term funding question while the melanoma vaccine filings proceed. The stock has already risen more than 700% this year, so pullbacks can be sharp. A daily close below $241.46, Thursday's close before the report, would invalidate the setup.

TEAM · Atlassian Corporation — Bearish, Short-term (days). Atlassian fell 16.2% to $153.68 after guiding subscription ARR growth down to about 18.5% from 22.5% and full-year revenue growth to about 13.75%, despite beating on the quarter. Forecast cuts of this kind tend to bring estimate and price-target reductions over the following days, and software stocks have been sold all year on fears that AI agents will reduce seat counts. A quick rebound is possible after a fall this size. A daily close above $183.29, the pre-report close, would invalidate the setup.

VST · Vistra Corp. — Bullish, Short-term (days). Vistra rose 10.5% to $124.80 after adjusted EBITDA grew more than 50% to $2.378 billion, 2027 guidance of $7.7 billion to $8.5 billion came in slightly above expectations and the buyback grew by $1.5 billion. With about 98% of 2027 output already hedged, the earnings outlook depends less on the political mood around data centres than the 13.8% fall on November 4 implied, and the stock is still about 11% below its November 3 close. A daily close below $112.89, Thursday's close, would invalidate the setup.

BTC/USD · Bitcoin — Neutral, Short-term (days). Bitcoin spent Friday between $74,888 and $76,416 on Binance and closed the day at $75,844, almost unchanged, while the Nasdaq rose 1.1%, so it did not join the rebound in technology shares. The stronger October jobs report lifted the odds of a December Fed hike to 76.8%, a headwind, but the selling that followed the midterms has also slowed. With October CPI due on Tuesday, a break above $76,500 or below $74,800 is more informative than any view taken inside that range, so no directional call today.
