Central banks around the world

The Bank of Japan, the Bank of Canada, the RBNZ, Bank Indonesia and the other central banks outside the Fed, and how their decisions move currencies.

The Federal Reserve is the central bank most markets watch, but it is not the only one that moves them. When the Bank of Japan raises rates the yen and global bond yields react; when the Bank of Canada or the Reserve Bank of New Zealand changes course, their currencies can move more in a minute than in the rest of the month.

Our coverage follows those decisions, the polls and market pricing before them, and the gap between what was expected and what was announced, which is what the currency trades on.
